.DISCUSSION...
A trough south of the Islands is moving toward the region, while a high-pressure
system builds near New Zealand. Satellite and surface observations show towering
clouds producing widespread showers, prompting a Flash Flood Warning this afternoon
and a Flash Flood Watch through Friday. Winds will gradually strengthen as the
high-pressure system becomes dominant through the weekend. The Islands are expected
to experience widespread showers and windy conditions, with a brief break in rain on
Saturday as the trough shifts slighty south. Rain and winds will intensify again Sunday
night as the high pressure and trough strengthens. Models indicate a higher potential
for flash flooding, lasting through Tuesday. Afterward, the trough will weaken,
bringing isolated rain and light winds to the region.

of 25 knots, potentially escalating to warning levels as surf exceeds 15 feet.
