667 FNUS55 KPIH 040826 FWFPIH Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Southeast Idaho National Weather Service Pocatello ID 226 AM MDT Mon Aug 4 2025 ...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 2 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 9 PM MDT THIS EVENING FIRE WEATHER FORECAST ZONES 410 AND 413... .DISCUSSION... * Central Idaho Dispatch Area weather impact summary (Zones 475 and 476)... Low pressure will move through the Central Idaho Dispatch area late this afternoon and overnight. Ahead of the low, wind and instability will increase, triggering isolated to scattered thunderstorms for the Salmon-Challis NF with potential gusts to 50 mph. Wind will also be increased, but humidity should only slightly decrease, with most locations staying above 15 percent. More stable conditions will develop for Tuesday and Wednesday, with cooling for Tuesday but a quick return to warming on Wednesday. Afternoon humidity will slowly decrease through that period. * East Idaho Dispatch Area weather impact summary (Zones 410...411 and 413)... ...RED FLAG WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 2 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 9 PM MDT THIS EVENING FOR GUSTY WINDS AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY FOR IDAHO FIRE WEATHER ZONES 410 AND 413... Low pressure moving across to the north will increase wind and instability for this afternoon. This will trigger a slight chance of thunderstorms in areas north of Blackfoot for this afternoon and evening. The low will bring cooler and much more stable air into eastern Idaho for Tuesday. By Wednesday temperatures will start warming, but the air will continue fairly stable with no thunderstorms expected either Tuesday or Wednesday. However, the air is very dry and humidity will be widespread under 15 percent both days as wind stays in the breezy to windy category, likely needing another Red Flag Warning after this one for today. * South Idaho Dispatch Area weather impact summary (Zones 422...425 and 427)... A low moving through the Salmon-Challis NF tonight will bring moderate gusty wind to the South Idaho Dispatch area and a risk of mainly isolated thunderstorms to both parts of the Sawtooth NF and bordering portions of the BLM district as far south as Carey and Craters of the Moon. After this low passes, expect some short-lived cooling for Tuesday, but back to warming by Wednesday. The incoming air is very dry, and widespread low elevation afternoon humidity readings will get below 15 percent. Wind is expected to stay breezy to windy, so Red Flag conditions are possible again in lower elevations on both Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons and evenings. However, no thunderstorms are expected for those days. IDZ475-042345- East Salmon River Mountains/Salmon NF- 226 AM MDT Mon Aug 4 2025 .Today... * Sky/weather........Mostly cloudy.
