The avalanche danger is HIGH. Very dangerous avalanche conditions exist. * WHERE....The Salmon River, Sawtooth, Smoky, White Cloud, Boulder, Pioneer and Soldier Mountains - including the mountains near Banner Summit, Atlanta, Stanley, Smiley Creek, Galena Summit, Ketchum, Hailey, Carey, and Fairfield. * WHEN...Until 4 AM MST Thursday. * IMPACTS...Days of heavy snowfall and wind transported snow overloaded with a very weak snowpack. Human-triggered avalanches large enough to bury people are very likely, and natural avalanches are possible. Some avalanches will be large enough to snap trees and damage structures. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Avoid all steep slopes and flat ground below steep slopes - slopes steeper than about 30 degrees. Avalanches may be triggered remotely - from flat terrain above, below, and to the sides of steep slopes.
