Issued by NWS Pendleton, OR
545 FNUS56 KPDT 052032 FWFPDT Fire Weather Planning Forecast for NE Oregon and SE Washington National Weather Service Pendleton OR 132 PM PDT Thu Jun 5 2025 .DISCUSSION...Building high pressure over the forecast area will make for breezy winds through the Cascade Gaps at times during the day Friday, before giving way to a hot weekend. Portions of the Columbia Basin could see high temperatures exceed 100 degrees both Sunday and Monday, with widespread RHs in the teens and 20s. A more active pattern then materializes late Monday onward, which, if forecast models verify, could lead to the potential for dry thunderstorms over the mountains of central and eastern Oregon, possibly spilling over into the adjacent foothills. ***Thunderstorms imply strong gusty winds*** ***Winds are 20 foot 10 minute averages*** ***CWR-chance of wetting rain 0.10 or greater*** ***Ventilation Index is derived from the transport wind multiplied by the mixing height in 100`s of feet. Index categories are a generalized indicator and users are encourage to develop criteria that are suitable and representative of dispersion conditions in their local area of interest.*** Note: Max transport winds may not occur at the same time as max mixing height.
