...GROWING SEASON HAS ENDED FOR ENTIRE NWS PITTSBURGH FORECAST
AREA...

In collaboration with surrounding NWS offices, the majority of
which have ended frost/freeze products for the season in adjacent
areas, NWS Pittsburgh has ended the growing season for its area
of responsibility, including portions of eastern Ohio, northern
West Virginia, and southwest Pennsylvania.

Recently contacted agricultural interest in the area have
indicated that harvest is largely completed in many cases. Also,
temperatures have fallen into the lower 30s at some point this
month in a large part of the region, with frost/freeze occurrences
noted. Also, most counties are near or past their date of average
first freeze. For these reasons, the growing season has been
ended for the entire NWS Pittsburgh forecast area.

Frost/freeze products will resume again in the spring of 2025.
