.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 138 AM CST Sun Feb 23 2025

Surface high pressure is anchored across the Tennessee Valley
this morning. Skies are clear with light winds and temperatures
in the low to mid 20`s. High pressure will remain to our
southeast the rest of the weekend into early next week. An upper
level wave is progged to move across the Gulf coast Sunday into
Monday, remaining well south of our area and keeping conditions
dry. An increasing pressure gradient develops next week as low
pressure moves across the southern Canadian provinces allowing
winds to shift to the south. Even warmer temperatures will be
the result next week as highs rise into the 50`s on Monday and
into the low 60`s Tuesday and Wednesday. A cold front will move
through the Quad State late Wednesday bringing increasing
chances of rain showers. Models are showing a weak signal for
elevated instability and the most recent NBM now has thunder
chances back in the forecast for areas along the TN/KY line.
Cooler temperatures will return behind the frontal passage as
highs return to the 50`s Thursday and Friday. By next weekend
temperatures are expected to be back into the upper 50`s to low
60`s.
