.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 214 AM CDT Wed Oct 8 2025

Behind yesterday`s cold front we`re starting to see clearing skies
with the last of the clouds moving out by mid morning at the latest.
Sfc high pressure that is centered over the upper Midwest, starts to
fill in across the area today leading to slightly gusty northeast
winds and cooler temperatures in the lower to mid 70s with clear
skies. As ridging aloft brings height rises, the sfc high deepens as
it moves over the Great Lakes. This brings continued cooler
temperatures for Thursday and Friday. Thursday night looks to be the
coldest night of the 7-day with lows dipping into the upper 30s
around Mt. Vernon, IL. This along with clear skies and light to calm
winds means we could potentially see a patchy first frost.

The weekend kicks off a warming trend with highs climbing into the
mid to upper 70s for Saturday and back into the upper 70s to lower
80s by Monday onward. Dry conditions continue through the end of the
7-day with strong ridging aloft aided by colliding lows off the NC
coast.

.AVIATION /06Z TAFS THROUGH 06Z THURSDAY/...
Issued at 1231 AM CDT Wed Oct 8 2025

The MVFR cloud deck is moving through the western portions of
the area and sliding south over the coming hours. Behind this
deck skies are clear and will remain clear tomorrow. Winds are
light overnight generally out of the north and northeast. Winds
will pick up again tomorrow during the day at around 5-10 kts
gusting occasionally to around 20 kts out of the north and
northeast. After the cloud deck clears out from MVN there may be
some shallow fog development, but winds look to stay slightly
elevated and might mitigate this development.
