076 FXUS66 KOTX 121726 AFDOTX Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Spokane WA 1026 AM PDT Sat Jul 12 2025 .KEY MESSAGES... - Warming trend continues through the weekend with temperatures peaking on Sunday. - Hot, dry, and gusty conditions leading to increased fire weather concerns for Sunday afternoon and evening. && .SYNOPSIS... Warm temperatures will continue through Monday with the highest temperatures expected on Sunday. Conditions will remain dry and winds will be locally breezy each afternoon across Central Washington. Heat Advisories have been issued across much of the region for Saturday through Monday evening. && .DISCUSSION... Above normal temperatures will persist through at least Monday, likely peaking for most locations on Sunday. Overnight lows will also remain quite warm. Heat advisories are in effect for much of the Inland Northwest to account for this heat. Expect locally breezy winds each afternoon and evening, through the Cascade gaps eastward to include much of the Columbia Basin and Methow Valley. With these dry, hot, and breezy conditions, a Fire Weather Watch is in effect for portions of central WA Sunday afternoon and evening. Monday night through Friday: Extended range models indicate the potential for a system pushing through early next week, with current timing expected to be from Monday night thru Tuesday night. This will likely bring cooler temperatures and an increase in winds. Any precip chances are focused across our NE zones, but fire weather concerns may be more widespread. Certainly something to watch in the coming days. Temps rebound to near to slightly above normal for Wednesday through Friday. /KD && .AVIATION... 18Z TAFS: VFR conditions will prevail across the Inland Northwest this weekend. Expect high cirrus clouds, especially across the portions of the region. Breezy west winds through the Cascade gaps with gusts up to 25 kts between 00-03Z late this afternoon. FORECAST CONFIDENCE AND/OR ALTERNATE SCENARIOS: High confidence that VFR conditions will continue at all TAF sites. The Hope and Western Pines Fires over NE Washington could bring some smoke into the Spokane/Coeur d`Alene area, though visibility at the surface is not expected to drop below 6 miles at this time. ----------------------- Confidence descriptors: Low - Less than a 30 percent chance Moderate - 30 to 70 percent chance High - Greater than a 70 percent chance For additional probabilistic information for NWS Spokane airports, please refer to the Aviation Dashboard on our webpage: https:/www.weather.gov/otx/avndashboard && .Preliminary Point Temps/PoPs...
