Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Nashville TN
1247 PM CDT Sat Oct 19 2024

...New AVIATION...

.SHORT TERM...
(Rest of today through Sunday)
Issued at 1126 AM CDT Sat Oct 19 2024

A spectacular weather day is unfolding across the southeast today
as temperatures will be warming into the low 70s with a light
southerly breeze. Surface high pressure is currently situated over
east Tennessee so, just like the past week or so now, this will
keep our weather mostly sunny and warm today. Temperatures tonight
will fall into the low 40s for most, so we can expect more fog to
develop near sunrise Sunday morning, especially over bodies of
water. Temperatures warm a touch more tomorrow with afternoon
highs in the mid 70s.

.LONG TERM...
(Sunday Night through next Saturday)
Issued at 1126 AM CDT Sat Oct 19 2024

Not a whole of change in the weather for the extended forecast as
a massive upper-level ridge building across the Great Plains keeps
high pressure over the area. This ridge will slowly scoot east and
as it does so, temperatures will continue increasing back into the
low to mid 80s by Wednesday. Models continue to show a cold front
moving through the area Wednesday night into Thursday that could
bring very low rain chances across our northwest (less than 10%).
The most likely scenario is that there will just be an increase
in cloud cover over the whole area with a drop in temperature as
mid 70s make a return for Thursday through next weekend.

.AVIATION...
(18Z TAFS)
Issued at 1244 PM CDT Sat Oct 19 2024

Nearby high pressure influences will keep winds light and skies
clear throughout the taf period. Overnight cooling will allow for
fog to develop in valleys and near bodies of water. BNA, CKV, MQY,
and CSV could all see reduced visibilities late tonight and just
after sunrise tomorrow morning. Fog should burn off by 14z and
leave calm and clear conditions behind.
