.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 307 PM CDT Fri Oct 17 2025

A cold front has swung through the region early this afternoon as a
system lifts north into Canada. This front caused a band of showers
and thunderstorms to develop, but this fast moving band offered
scant precipitation amounts as it moved through our region. The
remainder of the afternoon is expected to be dry with slightly
cooler temperatures behind the front, though still in the 70s. A
reinforcing cold front arrives during Saturday afternoon. This
second front is aided by a secondary system lifting northward from
the southern High Plains. Gusty winds are expected with this front
along with a low chance of showers, mainly north of I-80. This
second cold front brings another shot of cold air with it, keeping
many in the 60s. This translates into a chilly morning on Sunday
with a least patchy frost possible for areas of northeast Nebraska
that dip well into the 30s. Sunday sees a chilly morning become a
cool afternoon in the 60s to close out the weekend.

Heading into the work week, a somewhat active pattern continues.
Another cold front pushes through the area during Monday afternoon.
Another round of gusty winds and shot of cold air is expected behind
this front. Temperatures will remain in the 60s into the middle of
the week as a result of this system, though limited moisture keeps
us dry also. Frost may again be on the table by Wednesday morning
behind this early week front. Through the end of the week, largely
dry conditions and cooler temperatures in the 60s appear likely as
yet another front reinforces this weather pattern by late week.
