Seas given as significant wave height, which is the average height of the highest 1/3 of the waves. Individual waves may be more than twice the significant wave height. AMZ101-240245- Synopsis for the SW N Atlantic including the Bahamas 1041 AM EDT Sat Aug 23 2025 .SYNOPSIS...Large northerly swell generated by extratropical cyclone Erin will continue to affect the W Atlantic waters through the next few days. In the wake of Erin, central Atlantic high pressure will build W-SW toward the central Bahamas and the Straits of Florida. Meanwhile, showers and thunderstorms have become better organized in association with low pressure, AL90, near 25.5N62W. Gale-force winds are expected to develop with this system late this afternoon or evening as it moves northward, and is expected to cross 31N Sun evening. Environmental conditions appear conducive for further development of this system, and a tropical storm is expected to form this weekend.
