.DISCUSSION...
Cooler but still-warm and dry conditions are expected today, with
temperatures in the Arctic Plains and along the northern slopes
of the Brooks Range rising into the 70s. Min RH values are
expected to fall into the 30s or upper 20s in the Arctic Plains.
During the afternoon hours, isolated thunderstorms will be
possible along the Brooks Range and adjacent parts of the Arctic
Plains, which could bring brief periods of heavy rain and gusty
winds. Today and Monday, high pressure is expected to begin to
break down as a low pressure system moves in. Along with this will
come a drop in temperatures into the upper 50s and low 60s, on
Monday and 40s on Tuesday, with increased RH values and scattered
showers, especially over eastern parts of the North Slope. With
significant drops in temperatures occurring at the surface and
aloft, some areas, especially at elevation, will see chances for
snow by mid-week.
