.DISCUSSION...
Conditions will be fairly persistent through the weekend with
warm temperatures, low RH values, and gusty northeast winds. A
Heat Advisory is in effect for the Brooks Range and Arctic Plains,
through Saturday afternoon, for hot temperatures as high as 85
degrees. Areas along the coastline will remain cooler. The Brooks
Range and Arctic Plains will see minimum RH values in the 20s
while the coastline will see values above 50%. Northeast winds
will occur during the afternoon hours as their will be peak solar
mixing each day. Gusts up to 25 mph are possible the rest of today
and Friday, while Saturday could see gusts up to 30 primarily in
the Western Arctic Plains.
The Western Arctic Plain and the Western Brooks Range could see
widely scattered thunderstorms this afternoon. Point Hope to Point
Lay could see an isolated thunderstorm today as well. After
today, thunderstorm chances will be the Central Brooks Range and
Arctic Plains during the afternoons Friday no thunderstorms are
expected.
