Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Northern Alaska
National Weather Service Fairbanks AK
310 PM AKDT Sat Jul 19 2025

.DISCUSSION...

High pressure continues to prevail over the Arctic, but
is expected to begin to break down starting Monday as the Bering
Sea low moves in from the west. Higher temperatures are likely to
persist through Sunday with cooling anticipated beginning Monday
as high temps begin dropping into the mid to low 60s. Isolated
thunderstorms will remain a possibility Sunday and Monday
afternoon with cells tending to initiate off of high terrain. Rain
showers are expected for the Western North Slope, and are
anticipated to gradually move east as the week progresses.
Southwest flow is expected to begin around the Monday time frame,
bringing more moisture into the area and allowing light rain to
persist throughout the week.
