NWS Ocean Prediction Center Washington DC
443 PM EDT Tue Oct 7 2025

West central North Atlantic continental shelf and slope waters
beyond 20 nm to 250 nm offshore, including south of Georges Bank
from 1000 fm to 250 nm offshore.

Conditions given represent the highest within that period.

Seas given as significant wave height, which is the average
height of the highest 1/3 of the waves. Individual waves may be
more than twice the significant wave height.

Locally higher winds and seas can be expected in and near tstms.

.SYNOPSIS FOR MID ATLC WATERS...High pressure continues over the
area this evening, then gradually shifts E tonight as a cold
front approaches from the W. The cold front moves E across the N
and central waters Wed and Wed night, eventually stalling over or
near the far S waters Thu. Behind the front, another high builds
S, resulting in counterflow to the Gulf Stream and the potential
for steeper, breaking waves. High pressure then continues over
most of the area into Fri night, and then over the N waters Sat
and Sat night. To the S, low pressure forms along the stalled
cold front on Fri. The low and its associated warm front should
slowly move N offshore of the SE U.S. coast Fri night through Sat
night, before stalling off the Delmarva or New Jersey coast Sun
into Sun night. The USCG broadcast from Charleston, South
Carolina is still experiencing technical difficulties.
Technicians are aware of the problem. We apologize for any
inconvenience.
