.SYNOPSIS...Major Hurricane Erin is near 20.0N 64.0W, or about
150 nm NE of San Juan, Puerto Rico at 5 PM EDT. It is moving
west at 13 kt. Maximum sustained winds are 140 kt with gusts to
170 kt, and the minimum central pressure is 915 mb. Erin will
move to near 20.4N 65.7W late tonight, maintain intensity as it
moves to near 21.4N 67.6W Sun afternoon, to near 22.7N 69.2W late
Sun night with maximum sustained winds 135 kt gusts to 165 kt,
and continue to slowly weaken as it moves to near 24.0N 70.2W Mon
afternoon, to near 25.5N 70.9W late Mon night, and to near 27.3N
71.3W Tue afternoon with maximum sustained winds 120 kt gusts to
145 kt. Erin is forecast to change little in intensity as it
moves to near 31.7N 70.8W Wed afternoon, and continue to weaken
as it pulls well north of 31N through Thu night. Swells generated
by Erin will affect portions of the northern Leeward Islands,
the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Hispaniola, and the Turks and
Caicos Islands through the rest of the weekend. These swells will
also impact the Atlantic and Caribbean passages through at least
early next week. Mariners and visitors are urged to remain in
port through the weekend.

becoming W 95 to 115 kt after midnight. Seas 16 to 21 ft.
Numerous squalls and thunderstorms.
.SUN...HURRICANE CONDITIONS EXPECTED. S to SW winds 105 to
125 kt. Seas 18 to 28 ft in NW swell. Scattered showers and
isolated thunderstorms. Vsby 1 NM or less.
.SUN NIGHT...TROPICAL STORM CONDITIONS EXPECTED. S to SW winds
45 to 50 kt, becoming S 30 to 35 kt after midnight. Seas 12 to
17 ft in NW swell. Numerous squalls and thunderstorms.
.MON...TROPICAL STORM CONDITIONS POSSIBLE. S winds 25 to 30 kt.
Seas 9 to 14 ft in NW swell. Scattered showers and isolated
thunderstorms.
