.SYNOPSIS...In the wake of Hurricane Erin, the central Atlantic
high pressure will build west-southwestward toward the Bahamas.
This will allow for the normal trade wind flow to return to the
regional waters through the period. A long period northerly swell
from distant Hurricane Erin will arrive as early as Friday
afternoon, and into the weekend, resulting in hazardous seas for
the Atlantic waters and passages. An area of disorganized
showers and thunderstorms associated with a tropical wave is
located a few hundred nautical miles east of the Leeward Islands.
Environmental conditions appear conducive for further
development of this system, and a tropical depression is likely
to form this weekend while it moves near or to the north of the
northern Leeward Islands.
