Broadcast media reported that Caltrans had
reported that the Caldecott Tunnel received
damage from heavy rain on Christmas Eve.
Rainfall rates that morning were around
0.5-1.0/hr. Heavy rain and inclement weather
damaged electrical equipment and resulting
in ventilation issues for 2 of the bores.
These bores were closed for 2 days. Time of
heaviest rain estimated by radar and nearby
observations.
