.DISCUSSION...
Idaho (Zones 102 and 103): Cool temperatures will continue into Tuesday
night. Low pressure over the Northern Rockies moves east later on
Tuesday. Expect decreasing clouds and daytime high temperatures
increasing towards normal going into Wednesday. Fog or low stratus
cloud decks will be possible both Wednesday and Thursday mornings.
Westerly winds increase on Thursday, with gusts approaching 30 mph
towards the Bitterroot crest.
Northwest MT (Zones 104 and 105): Moderate to heavy rainfall will
continue into Tuesday. Expect 24-hr rainfall totals ending Tuesday
evening to be about an inch in Glacier Park and the nearby Flathead NF,
while the Kootenai NF will see about another 0.50 inches. Showers end
by Tuesday evening. Fog or low stratus cloud decks will be possible
both Wednesday and Thursday mornings. Westerly winds pick up on
Thursday, possibly gusting over 30 mph along ridge-tops, except over 40
mph over the Continental Divide.
West Central MT (Zones 106, 107 and 108): Lingering showers will
continue into this evening. Morning fog or low stratus clouds are
possible this week due to all the recent moisture. Expect clearing skies
and moderating daytime high temperatures by Wednesday. Westerly winds
pick up on Thursday, possibly gusting over 30 mph on ridge-tops.
Southwest MT (Zones 109, 110 and 111): Cloud cover will linger today and
Tuesday behind a departing low pressure system. West winds on Tuesday
will transition to southwest on Wednesday under decreasing clouds.
Southwest winds increase considerably to about 30 mph on Thursday under
a strong jet streak aloft, while minimum RH drops into the teens.
Expect critical or near-critical fire weather conditions on Thursday due
to the combination of strong winds and low RH, especially for Zone 111
(East Beaverhead).
