.DISCUSSION...
Idaho (Zones 102 and 103): Hot and dry through this weekend under a
strong ridge of high pressure. Heat advisories remain in effect for low
elevations with highs reaching above 100. Light east winds this morning
will shift to the north-northwest by this afternoon. Thermal belts will
strengthen tonight into Sunday morning, with another round of east
winds.
Northwest MT (Zones 104 and 105): Hot and dry through this weekend
under a strong ridge of high pressure. Easterly winds will continue
today, with gusts ramping up to 20-30 mph this evening across ridgetops
in the Flathead NF. Thermal belts will strengthen each night into
Monday.
West Central MT (Zones 106, 107 and 108): Hot and dry through this
weekend under a strong ridge of high pressure. Winds will briefly shift
to the north this afternoon, before east winds return this evening.
Gusts will ramp up after sunset, reaching 20-30 mph midslopes and
ridgetops, particularly in the Lolo NF. Thermal belts will strengthen
each night into Monday.
Southwest MT (Zones 109, 110 and 111): Hot and dry conditions under a
ridge of high pressure will continue into early next week. Northeasterly
winds will continue through this weekend, with gusts 20-25 mph each
afternoon. Thermal belts will strengthen each night into Monday.
Humidity will trend higher Monday into the middle of next week as
monsoon moisture arrives from the southwest, with increasing chances for
thunderstorms capable of producing wetting rains.
