Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Wrn Montana and N Cntrl Idaho
National Weather Service Missoula MT
124 PM MDT Sun Aug 24 2025

.DISCUSSION...

Idaho (Zones 102 and 103): Hot and dry through Monday, with poor
overnight recoveries continuing under high pressure. Heat advisories
remain in effect for low elevations with highs reaching above 100. Dense
smoke and stable conditions will delay inversion breaks in the Nez
Perce-Clearwater NF. Humidity will trend higher late Monday into the
middle of the week as monsoon moisture arrives, with increasing chances
for showers and thunderstorms capable of producing wetting rains.

Northwest MT (Zones 104 and 105): Hot and dry conditions expected
through Tuesday. Easterly winds will continue into Wednesday. Gusts will
once again increase up to 20 mph this evening across ridgetops in the
Flathead NF. Thermal belts will strengthen each night into Tuesday.
Wetting rain chances and higher humidity arrive late Wednesday into
Thursday.

West Central MT (Zones 106, 107 and 108): Hot and dry conditions are
expected through Tuesday. East winds continue through Wednesday with gusts
up to 20 mph across midslopes and ridgetops, particularly in the Lolo
NF. Thermal belts will strengthen each night into Tuesday. Humidity will
gradually trend higher late Tuesday into the middle of the week as
monsoon moisture arrives, with increasing chances for showers and
thunderstorms capable of producing wetting rains.

Southwest MT (Zones 109, 110 and 111): Warm and dry conditions through
Monday, Monday afternoon an influx of monsoon moisture could lead to
isolated storms. These storms will initially produce strong outflow
winds, up to 45 mph. Tuesday increasing moisture will allow for
increasing chances of showers. These showers will be slow moving and may
be heavy at times. Caution should be used when working or traveling
near new or recent burn scars, due to the potential for debris flows.
