This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of southwest North
Carolina...east Tennessee and southwest Virginia.

.DAY ONE...This Afternoon and Tonight

Snow showers will increase in coverage and intensity this
afternoon and evening. An additional 6 to 9 inches will be
possible in the highest peaks of the Smokies, with 4-6" possible
elsewhere north to Sams Gap area. The remainder of the east TN
mountains and higher terrain of our VA counties will see lighter
amounts with an additional 1 to 3 inches possible.

In the valley, most locations will get around half an inch or
less this afternoon through this evening but localized higher
amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected in spots. Those higher
amounts will be hit and miss. The northern Plateau and lower
elevations of Southwest Virginia can expect 1 to 2 inches of
additional snow.

In addition to the snowfall, breezy winds will accompany the cold
temperatures through tonight, leading to wind chill values around
or slightly below zero in the mountains.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday

Snowfall comes to an end before daybreak Tuesday, but cold
wind chill values in the teens for the Tennessee Valley and near
zero in the higher elevations continue through the mid morning
hours.

Dry conditions with warming temperatures are expected through the
end of the week.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Detailed snowfall reports from across the forecast area through
Tuesday morning would be helpful and greatly appreciated.
