Issued at 141 PM EDT Mon Aug 18 2025 Key Messages: 1. Rain chances linger in the mountains today and tomorrow, but should be dry elsewhere. 2. Slow moving, weak front approaches and moves through the region Wed through Fri, for cooler temperatures and fairly widespread rain chances. 3. Still on the lookout for the first legitimate cold front late next weekend into early next week. Pattern suggests it`s possible, but details remain uncertain. Would mean much drier and cooler air though! Discussion: Though it will take a few days, we`ll see a significant pattern shift this week. Upper ridging will continue to lose influence over the weather across the southern Appalachians over the coming days as northern branch jet stream becomes more active and sends a series of && .AVIATION... (18Z TAFS) Issued at 141 PM EDT Mon Aug 18 2025 VFR categories should prevail most everywhere through the period. The one exception may be KTRI where some patchy fog may develop tonight. I`m not supremely confident that it will occur, but the overall pattern supports it as do several pieces of guidance so it`s hard to go against it. I did cap it at a TEMPO for 3SM as opposed to anything lower though.
