FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR UPPER MICHIGAN
National Weather Service Marquette MI
422 AM EDT Thu Sep 19 2024

...WARM TODAY, COOL FRONT TONIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY...

.DISCUSSION: One more very warm day is in store for us as high
pressure ridging slowly gives way to a cool front to our west.
While mostly sunny skies will allow temperatures to get into the
low to possibly mid 80s today, with more moisture advecting in
ahead of the cool front, expect min RHs to only get down into the
upper to maybe mid 30 percents this afternoon. In addition, fairly
light southerly flow is still expected throughout the day,
limiting fire weather concerns. Expect the cool front to bring
rain showers and thunderstorms across the area this evening
through Friday from west to east. While not much rainfall is
expected (0.10 to 0.30 inches in general), some spots may `luck`
out and receive a local downpour, bringing very localized soaking
rainfall to that spot. With the additional moisture in the air
tonight, expect the area to once again make a full RH recovery
during the overnight hours. Expect the rainfall to become limited
to mostly the east half Friday, with skies clearing behind the
front, but temperatures tomorrow remaining cooler, only getting
into the 70s. We could see some frequent lightning with the storms
early this evening over the far west, in addition to some isolated
strong winds and large hail too. We also have a very low (2% or
less) of seeing this over the east half too on Friday, but
conditions are not as ideal.
