FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR UPPER MICHIGAN
National Weather Service Marquette MI
600 AM EDT Sun Sep 13 2026

.DISCUSSION...

Light lake enhanced rain showers develop over the east half today,
with the convective activity being mainly relegated to the area east
of Munising and north of M-28; up to a tenth of an inch or two of
rainfall could fall there today. Otherwise, while some sprinkles
could occur for a couple of hours over the Keweenaw, north central,
and east, not much in the way of precipitation is expected today.
Drier air in association with an incoming high pressure ridge does
look to bring minRHs down into the 30 percents this afternoon.
However, no elevated fire weather concerns are expected, even
despite the breezy WNW wind gusts of 20 to 30 mph over the area this
afternoon, highest over the north central and Keweenaw where gusts
up to 35 mph are possible. With clear skies tonight and antecedent
cooler air overhead, expect frost to develop over the interior west
as we make a full RH recovery across the area. Our next active
period comes late Monday through Tuesday morning as windy conditions
and heavy rainfall at times move through the region; a soaking
rainfall of an inch or more has a 40 to 70% chance of occurring late
Monday through Tuesday morning.
