818 FNUS53 KMQT 041001 FWFMQT FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR UPPER MICHIGAN National Weather Service Marquette MI 601 AM EDT Thu Sep 4 2025 .DISCUSSION... Lake effect showers, while holding over the west wind belts, are expected to diminish across the area today. This, in conjunction with the loss of lake effect cloud cover over the interior central today, will allow for greater mixing over the aforementioned area this afternoon, allowing for min RHs to drop down into the upper 30 percents. However, given that temperatures are still expected to be rather cool for this time of year and the recent rainfall, no elevated fire weather concerns are expected (although the Keweenaw will be quite breezy today, up to 30+ mph at times). Another Clipper- like low is expected to move through Wisconsin tonight, bringing a widespread wetting (0.10-0.20") rainfall across Upper Michigan through Friday morning; several spots could see over an inch of liquid with this system. Behind this, expect lake enhanced to lake effect rainfall to reinvigorate over the northwest wind belts later Friday, with breezy conditions being seen across the entire U.P.
