FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR UPPER MICHIGAN
National Weather Service Marquette MI
600 AM EDT Mon Sep 14 2026

.DISCUSSION...

Clear skies this morning give way to clouds and rain this evening as
a warm front approaches the area today. As it does so, we could see
RHs bottom out to about 30% in the interior west, with gusts
increasing from the south with time this afternoon. However, given
that the more elevated fire weather conditions would only last for
an hour or two tops, thinking there will be no elevated fire weather
threat for today. Moving into tonight, expect gusty southerly winds
of 25 to 40 mph, highest at the downslopes by the Lake Superior
shoreline. While a soaking rainfall (1 inch or more) is generally
not expected now, guidance does suggest that there is a around a 25
to 60% chance that over a half-inch of rainfall will be seen between
this evening and Tuesday morning across the area, although chances
will be near 0% near Marquette and about 100% in the south central
by Menominee. Moving into Tuesday behind the front, expect CAA
cycling into the area to bring strong westerly winds of 45+ mph to
the Keweenaw (60 to 90% chance). Should the forecast hold, then
expect a Wind Advisory to be issued in the future. The rest of the
U.P. doesn`t look to be nearly as windy. Expect a full RH recovery
and potentially some patchy frost in the interior west Tuesday
night.
