FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR UPPER MICHIGAN
National Weather Service Marquette MI
601 AM EDT Fri Jul 4 2025

.DISCUSSION...

Limited fire weather concerns today. An approaching warm front may
touch off scattered showers and thunderstorms mainly across the
western UP this morning and afternoon. Behind this frontal boundary,
temperatures are expected to climb into the mid to upper 80s area
wide, save for slightly cooler temps nearer to Lake Michigan. Areas
of Ontonagon and S Houghton counties may exceed 90. Additionally, S
winds upwards of 20 kts will be common area wide. However, rich
moisture will return to the UP today and Saturday characterized by
dewpoints in the 60s to near 70, highest in the west. Mixing may
allow min RHs in the upper 40%s this afternoon, but good RH recovery
is expected overnight. Saturday, widespread rainfall is expected as
a cold front approaches from the west in the afternoon.
Precipitation near an inch will be possible across much of the UP
into Sunday morning.
