FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR UPPER MICHIGAN
National Weather Service Marquette MI
601 AM EDT Sat Jul 12 2025

.DISCUSSION...

Precipitation is ongoing across most of the UP this morning
associated with a warm front lifting north and a cold front pushing
east. Only limited lightning has been observed so far, but as the
day goes on, chances for lightning increase to near 50 percent each
hour through the evening. Some thunderstorms this afternoon will
have the potential for damaging winds and hail. Chances for over an
inch of rain are 40-80% in the east, with some areas potentially
(30% chance) seeing 2+ inches. Outside of thunderstorms, expect
mainly light winds to shift to the west and northwest and increase
to 10-15 mph this evening. With the rainfall, minimum RH values will
largely be 75+ percent, except in the far west where early clearing
will allow RHs to fall to around 60 percent.

Dry weather follows for Sunday, with RHs falling to the 50s in the
far east, 40s for much of the rest of the UP, with the Porcupine
Mountains region seeing some minimum RH values into the mid- and
upper-30s percent. Winds out of the southeast will be around 5-10mph
with some gusts to 15-20 mph (potentially 25 mph over the Keweenaw).
