URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE
National Weather Service Twin Cities/Chanhassen MN
426 AM CST Fri Mar 6 2026

...WINTRY MIXTURE OF FREEZING RAIN, SLEET AND SNOW LIKELY STARTING IN
WESTERN MINNESOTA LATE THIS AFTERNOON THEN SLOWLY SPREADING EAST
THROUGH SATURDAY MORNING...

.After a swath of rain spreads across the area this morning, a second
round of rain this afternoon will transition over to a wintry mix of
freezing rain, sleet and snow in far western Minnesota this evening.
The wintry mix of precipitation will continue to spread east through
this evening into early morning Saturday, eventually changing over to
wet snow overnight tonight through late Saturday morning before
ending.

Ice accumulations of up to one tenth of an inch, mainly in western
Minnesota, will make roads & surface very slippery this evening, and
slick conditions will continue into Saturday morning following the
transition from freezing rain to snow. Snow accumulations of up to
around 1" are also expected in addition to the ice.
