Multiple supercell thunderstorms moved onshore early morning on the 10th producing several tornadoes and a damaging wind swath along the Alabama and Florida Panhandle coastline. .Dauphin Island Damaging Winds... Rating: TSTM/Wind Estimated Peak Wind: 90 mph Path Length /statute/: 0.76 miles Path Width /maximum/: 2000 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 05/10/2025 Start Time: 03:20 AM CDT Start Location: 1 NNW Central Dauphin Island / / AL Start Lat/Lon: 30.2641 / -88.115 End Date: 05/10/2025 End Time: 03:21 AM CDT End Location: Central Dauphin Island / Mobile County / AL End Lat/Lon: 30.2531 / -88.1136 Survey Summary: A large, embedded supercell moved across Dauphin Island during the early morning hours of May 10th. NWS ground survey crew assessed the damage that occurred across the island finding mostly sporadic damage without any coherent signs of convergent damage, something we look for when it comes to determining whether or not the damage was associated with a tornado or straight-line winds. Given this, the determination has been that intense straight-line winds up to 90mph occurred across the northern parts of the island. This damage consisted most notably of a collapsed small cell tower. Capt`n Snappers restaurant had windows broken, their door pushed in, and an AC unit tossed off a wooden crate it was sitting on. A few boats on the marina were pulled out into the water resulting in some damage to them. Across the rest of the area, mostly small to large tree limbs were taken down with a few uprooted and snapped trees scattered across the island. ..Warrington Tornado... Rating: EF1 Estimated Peak Wind: 97 mph Path Length /statute/: 0.61 miles Path Width /maximum/: 200 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 05/10/2025 Start Time: 06:15 AM CDT Start Location: Beach Haven / Escambia County / FL Start Lat/Lon: 30.3776 / -87.3085 End Date: 05/10/2025 End Time: 06:17 AM CDT End Location: Beach Haven / Escambia County / FL End Lat/Lon: 30.3863 / -87.3064 Survey Summary: A brief tornado impacted the west side of the Warrington community (near the Beach Haven area) early in the morning on May 10th. The tornado began near Selma St and rapidly moved to the northeast as it crossed Gulf Beach Hwy. Small tree limbs were scattered along Gulf Beach Hwy between S Fairfield Dr and Rentz Ave. A corridor of tree damage was noted along several streets to the north of Gulf Beach Hwy. Trees were uprooted and snapped along both Rentz and Calhoun Ave, with tree branch debris noted up and down the streets. The more significant corridor of damage was noted near Graupera St and Rentz Ave, where uplift of a porch awning led to roof damage to one home, with nearby roof damage to an outbuilding/shed and windows broken at another nearby home. Trees were snapped and uprooted near the aforementioned intersection. The tornado continued up Rentz Ave, with tree branch debris noted up and down the street. The tornado likely lifted near Rentz Ave and Eliasberg St as the tree damage became very sporadic to that intersection. Future adjustments to the track are possible as higher-resolution satellite imagery becomes available. .Pensacola Beach Tornado... Rating: EF1 Estimated Peak Wind: 100 mph Path Length /statute/: 0.37 miles Path Width /maximum/: 150 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 05/10/2025 Start Time: 06:21 AM CDT Start Location: Pensacola Beach / / FL Start Lat/Lon: 30.3304 / -87.1406 End Date: 05/10/2025 End Time: 06:22 AM CDT End Location: Pensacola Beach / / FL End Lat/Lon: 30.3353 / -87.1379 Survey Summary: A waterspout moved onshore Pensacola Beach just east of the pier. This tornado first affected a light pole near the volleyball nets just off of Casino Beach Boardwalk. This was where the tornado was its strongest with winds somewhere between 90 to 100mph. The tornado continued to the northeast as it weakened, impacting the UFO mini golf building removing a chunk of roofing material and depositing it to the northeast in the Hampton Inn parking lot. A sign to the north at the Sideline Sports Bar and Restaurant was knocked down. Further northeast, the Water Pig BBQ had its smoker tossed from the building to the north around 20 to 30 yards. ..Destin Tornado... Rating: EF1 Estimated Peak Wind: 100 mph Path Length /statute/: 1.86 miles Path Width /maximum/: 120 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 05/10/2025 Start Time: 09:05 AM CDT Start Location: 3 E Destin / Okaloosa County / FL Start Lat/Lon: 30.3825 / -86.4375 End Date: 05/10/2025 End Time: 09:10 AM CDT End Location: 3 ENE Destin / Okaloosa County / FL End Lat/Lon: 30.4095 / -86.4375 Survey Summary: A waterspout moved onshore in Destin over the Henderson Beach State Park tracking northward across Emerald Coast Parkway. The first location of reported damage was at the Osaka Japanese Hibachi Steakhouse & Sushi Bar where a light pole was knocked over facing northwest. Similarly, a power pole at the Mattress Firm was leaning but had not fallen. The tornado continued across the Home Goods and Tuesday Morning parking lots knocking down large tree limbs on the east side and uprooting several trees on the west side of the circulation that fell onto several cars. As the tornado continued north, it appeared to regain some intensity as it moved across Kelly Plantation golf course area. On Kelly Plantation Dr north of Stonebridge Road multiple trees were uprooted facing due west, indicating the tornado tracked just on the west side of Kelly Plantation Dr. While there have been no other reports of damage so far further north into Kelly Plantation, public video of a waterspout just offshore the north side of Destin in line with the tornado track adjacent to Mid Bay Bridge Road/293 and radar tornado debris signature lends high confidence the tornado made it across the full stretch of land before entering into Choctawhatchee Bay as a waterspout. Special thanks to Okaloosa County EMA, our media partners, and the public for providing numerous photos and videos to us to help assess this tornado. && EF Scale: The Enhanced Fujita Scale classifies tornadoes into the following categories: EF0.....65 to 85 mph EF1.....86 to 110 mph EF2.....111 to 135 mph EF3.....136 to 165 mph EF4.....166 to 200 mph EF5.....>200 mph NOTE: The information in this statement is preliminary and subject to change pending final review of the events and publication in NWS Storm Data. $$
