.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 203 PM CDT Tue Aug 19 2025

A massive upper ridge over the western half of the CONUS which
extends weakly into the southeastern states slowly retreats from
the region through Thursday as a weak upper trof evolves over the
southeastern states. The weak upper trof lingers through Saturday,
then is absorbed into a large and broad upper trof which swings
into the eastern CONUS on Sunday into Monday. At the surface, a
weak surface trof will be present across the forecast area on
Wednesday and Thursday. This feature along with the sea breeze and
an improving convective environment will support slight chance to
chance pops on Wednesday trending to chance to likely pops for
Thursday. The weak surface trof generally persists over the area
on Friday and Saturday, and meanwhile a cold front approaches from
the north and looks to push through the forecast area Sunday into
Sunday night. Summertime temperatures continue through much of the
period, although cooler air in the wake of the front could bring
mid to upper 60s for lows Monday night to much of the area, except
for near the coast where lower 70s are anticipated. Likely pops
on Friday will be followed by predominately likely pops on
Saturday, then chance pops prevail for Sunday. Dry conditions are
anticipated over interior areas on Monday with slight chance to
chance pops closer to the coast. A low risk of rip currents is
expected through Saturday. /29
