.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 1200 AM CDT Wed Aug 20 2025

Upper ridging remains in control of the forecast across the
region for one more day maintaining deep layer northerly flow over
the forecast area. This will keep hot afternoon temperatures in
place today with highs topping out in the middle to upper 90`s.
Upper troughing slowly shifts into the area while upper ridging
retrogrades westward late week into the weekend, helping to slowly
cool temperatures down and increasing rain chances. Expect
isolated to scattered coverage of showers and storms today,
becoming scattered to perhaps numerous Thursday through the
weekend. Overnight lows generally stay in the lower to middle 70`s
through the end of the week. A reprieve from the hotter
temperatures is on the horizon as our first noteworthy cold front
in quite a while approaches the area Monday thanks to a
pronounced upper trough swinging across the region. Drier and
relatively cooler air should begin working its way into the
forecast area to start next week. A low risk of rip currents
continues through the rest of the week into the weekend. MM/25
