.DISCUSSION...
Hurricane Erin is forecast to curve northward well east of Florida
on Tuesday, with high pressure building locally Tuesday through
Wednesday. Drier air is anticipated across the area in association
with the high pressure, keeping PoPs around 40-50% on Tuesday and
around 60% on Wednesday. Storms will be possible, with lightning
strikes, gusty winds, and heavy downpours the primary storm hazards.
While minimum RH values are forecast to remain above critical
thresholds, north to northeast winds are anticipated to increase to
10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph possible along the coast
starting tomorrow and continuing through Wednesday. Winds become
more north-northwest on Wednesday. Afternoon smoke dispersion values
are forecast to be very good to excellent as a result of the greater
surface and transport winds. Warm conditions continue locally, with
highs generally in the low 90s and peak heat indices reaching 100 to
105 over the next couple of days.
Fog potential and other remarks...Widespread fog is not forecast.
However, localized visibility reductions due to smoke from new or
existing fires will be possible even if fog is not forecast.
