.DISCUSSION...
A very moist airmass will remain in place across the area this week,
maintaining above normal coverage of mostly diurnal showers and
lightning storms each day (rain chances 40-70% today - highest
inland, 50-70% Wednesday and generally 60-70% through late week).
Peak coverage remains mid-late afternoon and early evening during
much of the week. A sea breeze collision will occur today well into
the interior, with daily collisions across the interior into the
extended. Showers and storms will be capable of wind gusts to 40-50
mph, occasional to frequent cloud to ground lightning, and locally
heavy rainfall leading to minor flooding of urban and low lying
areas. The east coast sea breeze will transition winds onshore along
the coast each afternoon. Wind speeds will generally be 5-10 mph,
but will have the potential to increase up to 10-15 mph along the
coast behind the sea breeze.
No Min RH concerns as deep moisture will keep RH values generally
above 60 percent this week. Dispersion values will be Poor to Fair
through mid-week as a weak pressure gradient lies across the area.
Temperatures continue in the upper 80s to low 90s with peak
afternoon heat indices ranging from the upper 90s to mid 100s ahead
of daily storms.
Fog potential...Widespread fog is not forecast. Localized visibility
reductions due to smoke from new or existing fires will be possible
even if fog is not forecast.
