.DISCUSSION...
A surface low pressure system is forecast to form today in the
eastern Gulf and near northwest Florida before gradually moving
northward toward the Florida Big Bend and the Florida Panhandle
Sunday and Monday. This low pressure system will cause the pressure
gradient to tighten across the local area, resulting in southerly
winds increasing to 10-15 mph today and into early next week.
Scattered to numerous shower and storms are forecast each afternoon.
The highest coverage is forecast across the interior each day along
the sea breeze collision. Strongest storms will be capable of
producing frequent lightning strikes, wind gusts up to 45 to 60 mph
locally, small hail, and heavy downpours. Localized flooding will be
possible in some spots. Activity is forecast to decrease late each
evening through the overnight hours.
There are no Min RH concerns through early next week. Near to
slightly above normal temperatures are forecast each day, with
afternoon highs in the low to mid 90s and peak heat indices of 100-
107 degrees. Smoke dispersion values will be good to very good today
through Monday due to the increase in winds.
Fog potential...Widespread fog is not forecast. Localized visibility
reductions due to smoke from new or existing fires will be possible
even if fog is not forecast.
