.DISCUSSION...
A surface low pressure system in the northeast Gulf is forecast to
move northward towards the Florida panhandle and AL/MS into early
next week, and may develop into a tropical depression over the next
couple of days. NHC has a 60 percent chance of tropical development
over the next 36-48 hours. Locally, southerly flow will persist with
winds 10-15 mph into early next week. Scattered showers and
lightning storms are forecast each afternoon and evening. The
highest coverage is forecast across the interior each day along the
sea breeze collision. SPC has outlooked portions of east central
Florida in a Marginal Risk (level 1 of 5) for severe weather today.
Strongest storms will be capable of producing frequent lightning
strikes, locally gusty winds up to 55 mph (with a 5 percent chance
of gusts up to 60 mph), and heavy downpours of 1-3 inches. Some
minor, localized, flooding will also be possible in some locations
in training rain bands. Activity is forecast to decrease late each
evening through the overnight hours.
There are no Min RH concerns through early next week. Near to
slightly above normal temperatures are forecast each day, with
afternoon highs in the low to mid 90s and peak heat indices of 100-
107 degrees. Smoke dispersion values will be Generally Good to Very
Good through Tuesday.
Fog potential...Widespread fog is not forecast. Localized visibility
reductions due to smoke from new or existing fires will be possible
even if fog is not forecast.
