Fire Weather Planning Forecast for East Central Florida
National Weather Service Melbourne FL
300 PM EDT Sat Aug 29 2026

.DISCUSSION...

Surface high pressure shifts north of the Florida peninsula today,
with the axis forecast to remain north of the area through at least
mid next week. This will result in winds becoming more easterly
today, with easterly flow prevailing this weekend into next week.
Winds are anticipated to remain around 10 mph, though enhancements
from the daily development of the east coast sea breeze may push
wind speeds closer to 15 mph at times especially along the coast.
There are no minimum RH concerns. Afternoon smoke dispersion values
are forecast to be fair through the weekend, and fair to generally
good on Monday. Daily afternoon shower and storm chances will range
between 30-70%, with highest coverage of storms occurring across the
interior each day. Some isolated onshore-moving showers will be
possible along the coast during the morning hours, but the best
coverage is forecast to occur during the afternoon hours across the
interior. Storm hazards will include lightning strikes, wind gusts
up to 55 mph, and locally heavy downpours that could lead to minor
flooding.

Fog potential...Widespread fog is not forecast. Localized visibility
reductions due to smoke from new or existing fires will be possible
even if fog is not forecast.
