Issued 146 PM CST Sat Feb 22 2025 Tonight through Sunday night: Winds are easing this afternoon as the pressure gradient gradually weakens across the area. Temperatures are expected to quickly fall through the 20s this evening, with overnight lows in the mid to upper teens. Mid level clouds are expected as weak wave approaches from the west. Another day of southwest flow on Sunday will help boost temperatures into the mid to upper 30s, with a few spots across southwestern Wisconsin perhaps touching 40. Boxell && .LONG TERM... Issued 146 PM CST Sat Feb 22 2025 Monday through Saturday: Shortwave troughs will pass through the area Monday night and again late Tuesday night and Wednesday, bringing 25%-40% chances for light precipitation. For the most part, it looks like temperatures should be warm enough to support rain during these times, though a few snowflakes may mix in brief periods. Temperatures through mid week will be decidedly warmer compared to the last few weeks, with daily highs Monday through at least Wednesday reaching the mid to even upper 40s, and overnight lows falling into the upper 20s to around 30. These warmer temperatures, along with the light rain, will increase the potential for a few ice jams on area rivers by mid to late week, as ice begins to thin and break up in some spots. Additional shortwaves Thursday and Saturday may bring chances for rain or snow, though for now better precip chances are to our north and east. Temperatures for the latter portion of the workweek will vary based on the track of these systems, but readings at or above average are favored. Boxell && .AVIATION... Southwest winds are expected for the remainder of today before winds turn light and variable overnight. Southwest flow returns to the area on Sunday. Boxell && .MARINE... Southwest winds will continue into the day on Sunday as low pressure moves into the Canadian Great Plains and high pressure moves from the southern Hudson Bay into Quebec.
