Issued 948 PM CDT Wed Sep 3 2025 There is still some very light rain/sprinkles that are lingering across central Wisconsin this evening. These areas of sprinkles are riding along some weak mid level (roughly 700mb) lift. With temps dropping after dark there is enough moisture to squeeze out some sprinkles. These should gradually continue southeast overtime eventually dissipating as transient lift pulls out of the state. Clouds will eventually clear from north to south across the region as high pressure clips the state. Patterson && .SHORT TERM... Issued 312 PM CDT Wed Sep 3 2025 Tonight through Thursday night: Clouds will decrease this evening and overnight as high pressure centered to the south clips southern Wisconsin. Quiet weather is expected during the day Thursday, with well below normal high temps in the low to mid 60s. Another round of rain will move through the area Thursday evening into Thursday night as low pressure zips through northern Wisconsin. Models are showing little to no instability with this round of rain, so left out any mention of thunder. It currently looks like the higher rainfall amounts will pass by to the north, closer to the center of the surface low. Amounts across southern Wisconsin are expected to be 0.25" or less. DDV && .LONG TERM... Issued 312 PM CDT Wed Sep 3 2025 Friday through Wednesday: High pressure will gradually build in from the northwest Friday into the weekend under broad northwest flow. Below normal temperatures and dry conditions are expected through this period. Southerly low level flow will return early next week, bringing gradually warming temperatures to southern Wisconsin. Dry weather is likely to persist into the first half of next week. DDV && .AVIATION... Issued 948 PM CDT Wed Sep 3 2025 VFR conditions are expected to persist through the period. There are some lingering sprinkles across central Wisconsin that should end/dissipate over the next hour or so. The mid to upper level clouds will gradually decrease and move south and east out of the area. Mostly clear skies and light winds are expected tonight. Winds will shift from northwest to west by daybreak. Thursday afternoon round of VFR cumulus is likely with cloud bases in the 4-5 kft range. West to southwest winds will become breezy again during the afternoon and evening hours. Heading into Thursday night winds will shift to southerly. Rain looks to return at the end of the period for late Thursday night into Friday morning. Patterson && .MARINE... Issued 312 PM CDT Wed Sep 3 2025 Low pressure of 29.4 inches over southern Ontario will meander north and then northwest tonight into Thursday while deepening to 29.2 inches. The low will remain nearly stationary Friday, before lifting northeast Friday night into Saturday. Breezy west to northwest winds through tonight will become southerly by Thursday night and then westerly by Friday morning ans a secondary low of 29.3 inches moves through northern Lake Michigan. This low will bring a tighter pressure gradient, with increasing confidence in a period of gales Thursday night into Friday morning. Thus a Gale Watch has been issued for this period. Winds will then gradually ease later Friday into the weekend as high pressure of 30.3 inches moves in from the northwest. DDV && .MKX WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES... WI...None.
