The National Weather Service in Newport has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
  Northwestern Hyde County in eastern North Carolina...
  East central Beaufort County in eastern North Carolina...

* Until 130 PM EDT.

* At 1243 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
  extending from Leechville to near Winsteadville to Ransomville,
  moving southeast at 20 mph.

  HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include...
  Belhaven, Sladesville, Ransomville, Ponzer, Scranton, Fairfield,
  Pamlico Beach, Leechville, Winsteadville, Rose Bay, Bayview, Sidney
  Crossroads, Bayview Ferry Terminal, and Sydney Crossroads.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly
from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the
basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

or large limbs downed, by calling the National Weather Service office
in Newport at 1-800-889-6889.
