...MARINERS BE ALERT FOR STRONG AND GUSTY WINDS ON THE BACKSIDE OF
A LOW TO THE SOUTH TONIGHT...

A deepening low pressure system to our south is currently making
its closest point of approach tonight. ON the backside of this
low strong upper level winds are mixing down very efficiently
resulting in a brief period of stronger ambient winds and gusts
across the Neuse River as NE`rly winds funnel down the waterway.
This will result in a 2-3 hour period of 35-45 kt wind gusts with
sustained winds of 25-35 kts coming from the NE. Expect gusty
winds to last until about 3AM before the wind field relaxes some
and more 15-25 kt winds with 30 kt gusts are forecast across the
Neuse and Bay Rivers.

Operators of small craft are advised to remain in port through
Sunday as gusty winds are forecast continue.
