Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Eastern North Carolina
National Weather Service Newport/Morehead City NC
328 AM EDT Sat May 17 2025

.DISCUSSION....
Breezy southwesterly winds will develop today as a cold front
approaches from the west. The front will move through this
evening, and will be followed up by a drier westerly flow. This
will lead to relative humidities falling from the 50s percent
today to the 30s percent on Sunday. The chance of wetting
rainfall, as well as the chance of thunderstorms, appears to be
decreasing for today. However, outflow from weakening
thunderstorms to the west may impact portions of ENC this morning
with a brief bump up in westerly winds.
