Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Eastern North Carolina
National Weather Service Newport/Morehead City NC
257 PM EDT Tue Aug 19 2025

.DISCUSSION....
Isolated to widely scattered showers and thunderstorms are
probable this evening. Slow moving cells within a moisture
rich environment may support some instances of heavy
rainfall and an isolated flooding risk. Wednesday afternoon
into Thursday, Hurricane Erin is expected to pass offshore,
but significant coastal impacts in the form of very dangerous
seas, life threatening surf and rip currents, as well as
significant beach erosion and areas of overwash are expected.
