Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Eastern North Carolina
National Weather Service Newport/Morehead City NC
342 AM EDT Thu May 15 2025

.DISCUSSION....
Modest southwesterly winds of 10-15 mph are expected to overlap
with relative humidities (RH) in the 50s percent the next couple
of days. A daily seabreeze is expected as well, which may be more
pronounced on Friday compared to today. Scattered thunderstorms
early this morning should decrease by mid-morning. Isolated to
scattered thunderstorms will then be possible again later this
afternoon through this evening. Should those afternoon
thunderstorms develop, they will be capable of strong winds in
excess of 50-60 mph, as well as large hail and frequent lightning.
The thunderstorm risk looks lower on Friday. Of note, Friday will
feature humid and notably hotter conditions.
