Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Eastern North Carolina
National Weather Service Newport/Morehead City NC
221 PM EDT Mon Aug 18 2025

.DISCUSSION....
Isolated to widely scattered showers and thunderstorms are
probable this afternoon and evening. Slow moving cells within a
moisture rich environment may support some instances of heavy
rainfall and an isolated flooding risk. Later this week,
Hurricane Erin is expected to pass well offshore, but significant
coastal impacts in the form of very dangerous seas, life
threatening surf and rip currents, as well as significant beach
erosion and areas of overwash are expected.
