Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Eastern North Carolina
National Weather Service Newport/Morehead City NC
326 AM EST Thu Dec 11 2025

.DISCUSSION....
A dry cold front will push off the coast today allowing for
winds to shift from a SW direction to a W-NW direction this
morning. Winds this morning will gust to 15-25 mph inland
and 20-30 mph along the OBX. Winds then gradually ease this
afternoon with gusts falling well below 20 mph as high pressure
builds overhead. A second cold front then impacts the area
on Sun and Mon bringing a higher chance of precip especially
across the OBX. Min RHs values will fall to to 35-45% today
across inland areas and 50-60% along the OBX. RH`s increase
slightly on Friday as return flow sets up out ahead of the
aforementioned front on Sunday.
