Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Eastern North Carolina
National Weather Service Newport/Morehead City NC
141 PM EST Mon Dec 8 2025

.DISCUSSION....
A cold front will move offshore early today with low pressure
developing along it off the coast with widespread rain developing
late morning and afternoon. Rain is expected to mix with and
change to snow late this afternoon into the evening across
northwest sections. Rainfall amounts are expected to be just under
a half of an inch along the coast and under a quarter inch across
inland locations. Snowfall amounts of up to 1" will be possible
across NW sections (Martin, Pitt, Washington Counties) with little
to no accumulation expected elsewhere. Below freezing
temperatures tonight will bring black ice concerns on roadways
with lingering moisture.

High pressure will build back over the area mid week bringing a
brief warm up, followed by a couple of dry cold fronts pushing
through for the latter half of the week. Cold and dry conditions
expected this weekend.
