Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Eastern North Carolina
National Weather Service Newport/Morehead City NC
342 AM EDT Wed Aug 19 2026

.DISCUSSION...
Hot and slightly drier air is expected inland away from where the
seabreeze reaches today. However, winds are expected to remain
light areawide. Moisture increases on Thursday, and remains high
into the weekend. The increase in moisture will also be
accompanied by an increased risk of showers and thunderstorms. On
Friday, in particular, the coverage of thunderstorms is expected
to be the highest, and that is also the day when rainfall amounts
of 1-2"+ will be possible.
