Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Eastern North Carolina
National Weather Service Newport/Morehead City NC
342 AM EDT Fri Aug 14 2026

.DISCUSSION...
Dry morning followed by increasing chances for scattered showers
and thunderstorms this afternoon into tonight between an inland
moving seabreeze and an incoming cold front. A few storms could
be strong in nature bringing gusty and erratic winds, frequent
lightning, and torrential rainfall to the area this afternoon
and evening. Elevated chances for precip continue into Saturday
as a cold front stalls over the area before lifting north as a
warm front. Above average temps continue into this weekend.
Winds generally remain light and from the S-SW today, becoming
more NE`rly behind the front tonight into Sat. As a result not
expecting any significant fire weather concerns over the next
several days. Next front with elevated precip chances and
increased winds is early next week.
